measuring cup, flour, and bowl

You'll need a few things to make your doughnuts: a frying pan, a mixing bowl, a electric hand mixer, plastic wrap, measuring spoons, measuring cup, tongs, rolling pin, doughnut shaped cutter, baking pan, plate, and some paper towels.

Making Your Batter

kneading dough

Start by pouring the warm water into the mixing bowl. Add in your packets of yeast, it should get frothy. Then, put in the 1 cup of flour, milk, sugar, eggs, and butter. Keep mixing until is starts to look like dough. Slowly add in the rest of your flour while mixing. Take your plastic wrap and wrap it around the top of the mixing bowl. It's kind of like making bread dough.

Rolling and Cutting

After about an hour, take the dough out the bowl. Sprinkle the table with some flour so that your dough won't stick to it. Knead it for 3 minutes with your hands before rolling it out with a rolling pin (don't forget to flour the pin!) It should be around 1 – 2 cm thick. Then, use the doughnut shaped cutter and start cutting out your doughnut pieces. Cut, knead, and roll until there's little or no dough left. Place them on a baking pan with flour sprinkled on the bottom, before throwing a kitchen towel over them. Leave them to rise for 25 – 30 minutes.

Making Your Glaze

When your doughnuts are almost done rising, start making the glaze. It's easy because you can just mix all the ingredients together at once.

Now it's time to fry your doughnuts! Wait for your vegetable oil to heat up; there should be enough oil to fry one side of the doughnuts. Prepare your plate and paper towels to soak up the excess oils. Once your oil is hot, you can start putting in your doughnuts. It takes around 1 – 3 minutes for each side of a doughnut. Be careful of the oil as it might spray. When you think that the doughnut is done, use your tongs and wait for most of the oil to drip from the doughnut before placing it on the paper towels.

Glazing Your Doughnuts
