How to Make Ice Cream from Bananas

You can buy banana ice cream at the supermarket or ice cream shop. But what you may not know is that you can actually made you own ice cream at home. There are so many different flavors that you can make, but for this article you will be learning how to make ice cream from bananas.

To make your banana ice cream you will only need a few ingredients: 3 bananas, ½ – 1 cup of milk or whole milk for creamier texture, 1 teaspoon vanilla extract, 2 teaspoons of sugar (maple syrup, honey, white sugar, or brown sugar) and 3-4 ice cubes.

ice freezer

Before you can mix your ingredients together, you have to freeze your bananas. First, peel them, then slice them into small slices. They should be around 1cm apart when you cut them. Take a Ziploc bag and freeze them overnight.

You will need a blender or food processor to make ice cream. Make sure to buy one that's good quality. You will have to blend really hard ingredients, so the machine has to be durable. You will also need a measuring teaspoon, a measuring cup, and a long spoon to stir around with.

Measure and Add

vanilla extract

Measure out your milk or whole milk, vanilla extra, and sugar (maple syrup, honey, coconut sugar, white sugar, or brown sugar). Take out your frozen bananas from the freezer and add them to the blender. Add in the rest of your ingredients and begin to blend.

food blender

After blending for 1 minute, stop the blender and stir around with your long spoon. Start the blender and blend until it's the texture and consistency you want. Taste it, and see if it's missing anything. If you feel like you need to add anything extra, go ahead and add it in, before blending again.

Vegan Option: Pre-prepare

sliced bananas

Like the non-vegan option, you also need to freeze your bananas overnight.

food processor

You won't need to change a thing with your tools. You will still need a blender or food processor, measuring cup, measuring teaspoon, and a long spoon.

Measure and Blend

soy milk

For the vegan option, the only thing you will have to change is the milk. You can use soy-milk or almond milk instead. They may have a thinner consistency, but they still work. After that, use the same steps as the non-vegan version. If you feel like it's not hard or thick enough, you can always stick it in the freezer for an extra hour or two as this will harden it up.

Go ahead and try this really easy and cool recipe. If you ever need something cold to eat in the summertime, try making this banana ice cream. You can even switch up the flavors if you want another taste besides banana in your dessert.
