This is only one type of oat that you can use to make oatmeal. Here is how to make oatmeal using simple ingredients that you probably already have at home.

Make sure that you have rolled oats, they are the most important ingredient to have to make oatmeal. You can buy them at any supermarket. They aren't expensive, so try to find an organic one.

To make your base, which is the oatmeal, you will need rolled oats, water, and salt (optional). For the toppings you can choose how many you want. For example, you can use small dates, raisins, and cranberries. For fruits, you can try banana slices, strawberries, blueberries, and blackberries. For an extra crunch you can add in some nuts. You will also need some type of liquid, milk, yogurt (or Greek yogurt), almond milk or soy milk. To add a little more sweetness, you can try honey or maple syrup.

If you are cooking for yourself, try using a microwave, then in a microwave-safe bowl, mix 1 cup of drinkable water and ½ cup of rolled oats. Microwave until you feel like it's warm enough to eat.
