How to Make Pancakes

Pancakes are one of the easiest breakfast foods to make. Though the pancake itself may be simple and plain, the toppings possible are endless. Learn how to make pancakes by reading this recipe.

Ingredients

flour

Make sure you have the ingredients needed to make your fabulous pancakes: 2 cups of all-purpose flour, 2 teaspoons of baking powder, ½ teaspoon of salt, 2 tablespoons of brown or white sugar, 1 ½ cups of milk, 1-2 eggs (depends on the size of the egg), and 3½ tablespoons of melted butter.

Equipment

frying pan

You only need a few tools for your pancake. For the batter, you'll need a whisk, a big bowl, measuring spoons, and a measuring cup (maybe also a microwave to melt your butter). To cook your batter, you'll need a frying pan, a spatula, and a large spoon. Make sure the pan you're using is non-stick seeing as you don't want to ruin your pancakes.

Batter

In your mixing bowl, starting by measuring out your baking soda and flour before tipping it in. Then, add in your egg, milk and butter before whipping it gently. After your batter starts to form, sprinkle in your sugar and salt. Make sure that you thoroughly distribute all the ingredients.

Cooking Your Pancake

Starting by taking your frying pan out and drizzling a thin layer of oil onto it. Try to spread it out with your spatula so that the oil isn't just in the center. Your fire should be set at medium heat. Drip a small drop of batter onto your pan, if it sizzles, it means you can start spreading your batter onto the pan. Take your large spoon and scoop up the batter. Hold the spoon over the middle of the pan and tip it. The batter will start to form a circle.

Before it starts to cook, quickly use the back of the spoon to spread the batter even more. You don't want your pancake to be too thick as the inside might not cook right. Once you start to see the bottom turn golden, take your spatula and flip the pancake over to cook. Be careful when you flip, the top side might still have uncooked batter. Once both sides are golden brown, place them on a plate or cool rack so that they can cool. Now comes the fun part, adding your toppings.
